PHYSICS NOTES - PIN HOLE CAMERA
Pinhole Camera
1) Aim: To prove that light travels in a straight line.
Materials required: Three stiff cardboards, three wooden blocks, a sharp pin, geometry box, adhesive tape, candle, and matchbox.
Procedure: Place the cardboard one upon another. On the topmost cardboard, draw diagonals as shown in fig. 5.11(a). Make a hole with the help of a sharp pin at the point of intersection of diagonals through all the cardboards.
Observation: If you [align the holes], you can see the light will perfectly pass through the cardboards. But when you move one of the cardboards, the light does not pass through.
Conclusion: Light can only travel in straight lines.
